It's all about the instructional design
Instructional design is the process of designing instruction through multiple theories such as ADDIE, Gagne's Events of Instruction, Vygotsky's Constructivism and Zone of Proximal Development, and Siemens and Downes 8 Principles of Connvectivism. The theories of Gagne, Vygotsky, and Siemens and Downes are outlined in this website.
Gagne uses five learning skills and nine levels of learning, whereas Vygotsky's social constructivist theory emphasizes the importance of collaborating and communicating with others in order for learning to take place. Children should be provided appropriate scaffolding within their zones of proximal development. In this learning environment, students are actively engaged in the learning process and take more responsibility for their learning. Siemens and Downes theory of Connectivism is relevant for the digital age in which we now live.
